Sunday, December 21st

In 2 Samuel 7:1-11 the ancient king David wanted to build a house for the LORD, but God wouldn't let him. Instead the LORD said that he'd be the builder and he promised to bless his people -- through a "royal house" -- a dynasty. At Christmas we celebrate the crowning touch of that royal dynasty. But it all unfolds in unexpected ways.

I tell you that I,
the Lord, will set up
a royal house for you.
~ 2 Samuel 7:11 (NIRV)

This Sunday we'll be looking at the 2 Samuel passage, as well as Luke 1:26-38, 47-55. It's all a part of the big Christmas build-up called Advent.

Whoever you are -- wherever you're from -- whatever your situation -- welcome!  MasterPiece Church meets at 10 AM, Sundays, at 3623 W Dobbins Rd., Laveen.

Christmas Eve

Conversational English Club

Ronald McDonald dropped in to our meeting on Wednesday, September 24 -- much to our surprise and delight. Our "club" meets at 9 AM, each Wednesday, at a couple of tables in the Laveen McDonald's (51st Ave and Baseline). While most of the participants are Chinese, we welcome immigrants from anywhere -- anyone who wants directed English practice. We usually work on reading, vocabulary, and pronunciation skills. Often we'll cover topics which club members bring to the table.

3623 W Dobbins Rd

We've purchased the house and two acres at 3623 W Dobbins Rd, Laveen. We are applying for the permits to remodel house and use it as the new Laveen branch of our child care ministry. We're also launching a ministry for at-risk special needs children as a part of that. The Laveen gathering of MasterPiece Church is at 10 AM, Sundays, in the house.

There are two reasons why 3623 grabbed our attention. First, it is on an arterial road in Laveen. We want to be easy to find. And secondly, it is an agricultural area. We anticipate using gardening and the care of small farm animals as important child development tools.

These are exciting days for us and we're grateful to God for the opportunities to serve him and our neighbors -- especially those whose living on the margins.

And we like to laugh...

even if it is kinda' Corny.

Sometimes we're crawling with kids -- and at other times there are just a few. Almost always Pastor Brad has a "Kids' Word" -- after which the children can choose to sit with their parents as the sermon continues or they can choose to continue on with the learning fun in Sunday School. We love kids!
